Anza Borrego State Park

I wanted to do something for the first new moon of the year so I convinced my friend Lizz to meet me at the Anza Borrego State Park. The park is California's largest and the area also prides itself as being a haven for stargazers so I knew it be a cool place to go.

Littered over a portion of the town area are 130 incredible metal sculptures by artist Ricardo Breceda that Lizz and I spent the afternoon driving around and hunting down. There are prehistoric mammals, llamas, dinosaurs, tortoises, but perhaps the most impressive of all of them is this gigantic serpent monster than spans over 350 feet and is split up by the road.

The 350' serpent.

Llamas!

 Dusk at Font's Point

We may or may not have spent the night at Font's Peak, an incredible lookout over an expansive wasteland. Sunrise was spectacular here. Being in the middle of winter, the sun rose far south which lined up perfectly over the wasteland below. It wasn't warm however and all layers and blankets were required.

One of the perks of going on adventures with me is being forced to sit still so I can put you in my long exposures.

Even though it was in the 30s that night and into the early morning, that definitely did not stop us from finding a nice spot to drink our morning coffee as the sun came up.

Coffee at Font's Point. Can't beat it.

Red sweatpants as a focal point. Smart.
