Today started like the previous Sopa lodge days – wake up at 6 or so, take a shower, head to breakfast and then meet up with Justin. Today marked the last day of safariing, our last day at Sopa, and our last day with Justin. Just like other days T loaded up a ziplock bag with pastries and sandwiches from the buffet for J and we left breakfast, checked out and embarked to Lake Manyara. After being in the Serengeti for two day and the Crater yesterday, Manyara was nothing incredibly new. It did offer a more complete jungle setting with a lot more trees and bush. We saw elephants on several different occasions. Probably 8-10 times. Monkeys were everywhere. There was a cool hippo pool where you could get out of the pool and look into the water. Perhaps the most exciting of the sightings today were a family of lions sleeping in a tree. Another first, another blown mind. Safariing is awesome. The Lake Manyara excursion was cut short however because of our need to get back to Arusha to start our next journey so we left a little before 1.
