Upon waking up in the comfort confines of my friend Jay's van in Bridgeport, CA on Thanksgiving morning, we found ourselves surrounded by about 3" or 4" inches of fresh snow. After the crazy adventure we had had the day before crossing the Sierra, we were happy that this fresh dumping had waited until we were finished driving to fall. After a nice soaking in the Travertine Hot Springs, we made our way south. Everything was white. Everything was beautiful. Up until this point, I had not stopped talking up the majesty of the Eastern Sierra and Highway 395 to my friend Jay and Mother Nature came through in a big way. A brief 30 minute spell in gray cloud cover opened up once we reached Mono Lake into gorgeous blue bird skies. It was at this point we decided to check out June Lake. Its presence on Google Maps suggested we'd be in for a treat, so we decided to adventure. Here is a (rather novice) video I compiled of our drive.
