As I’ve grown older and become a more seasoned outdoorsman, I’ve found myself becoming increasingly fascinated with the nighttime. I’ve always loved the way looking into space gets my imagination going. Lately, however, the feeling of isolation and peace that being out in the wilderness, in the dark has brought immeasurable satisfaction. Yosemite Valley is a unique place for this. You can setup camp on a cliff high above the valley and achieve that feeling of being completely alone in the wild and yet many miles away, you can see headlamps of climbers hanging off the side of El Cap or hikers on top of Half Dome. It’s awe inspiring to say the least.
